Launch Movement Experiment was formed in NYC 2005 by Rachel McKinstry and Liz Riga in order to make the dance experience an accessible yet progressive art form of our time. Launch’s work has been presented in NYC at Movement Research at the Judson Memorial Church, Dance Theater Workshop, Dance New Amsterdam, Tisch School of the Arts, University Settlement, Galapagos Arts Space, Triskelion Arts, Snapshot Series @ Bar 13, Solace Bar/Lounge, and Mulberry Street Theater.

Launch is committed to creating work that is ALIVE. In doing so, the public is drawn closer to us as fellow people - viewers - performers-breaking down the wall that commonly detaches the artist from her audience. For Launch, art making is a gateway to expanding our consciousness and in turn the public's. Thus, full awareness as performers enables full attention to whatever is coming into existence inside the performance space at any given present moment. In performance, Launch believes it is most important to eliminate the tight grip of expectation and anticipation and replace those concepts with improvisation, and in turn freedom. Structure and content are one and the same.
